For Manchester United’s overall goal to fruition into a destructive force again to be successful, you’ve got to have destructive forces inside the body.

To name a few, David De Gea, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata come to mind when you think of superstar names in the current squad. If the rumour mill right now is to believed, there might be one more name to add to that list come the summer:

Antoine Griezmann.

The Atletico Madrid forward shone at Euro 2016, and would be a fantastic addition to the team which would certainly help boost the attacking force on display in red colours. Other names have been thrown, with highly rated youngster and Benfica defender Victor Lindelof seen as an imminent arrival in January.

However, with Mourinho presumably planning ahead to next season, Griezmann’s name could be the saga to follow in the summer of 2017.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the United boss discussed the limitations he will put on purchases next month, which will already put one eye looking towards the summer:

More from Manchester United

"I believe more in the summer market than in the winter window. More time, more choice, I think it’s better. But let’s see what happens."

For the purpose of assuming that enquiries and such for the club’s next targets are underway at these premature stages, getting business done swiftly by the time July comes would certainly help United in the way of preparation for the next campaign, rather than being involved in a media circus.

Therefore, planting the seeds for these is the way to go.
