Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe is in the twilight of his career but he still finds the time to give back.

In a recent match at the Stadium of Light five-year old cancer patient Bradley Lowery was given the honor of leading the Black Cats on to the pitch. Joining him was his favorite player Defoe who held him in his arms as they came out of the tunnel and on to the field.

The experience was deeply felt by Defoe. Afterwards he sent out the following tweet:

Defoe also runs his own charity aptly named The Jermain DeFoe Foundation. The organization raises money to help homeless and abused children in St. Lucia where Defoe’s grandparents were born. It was established in 2013 and runs various fundraising events throughout the year.
