Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero are two of Manchester City’s most important and influential players. That is why the pair’s behavior during a recent match versus Chelsea was so disgraceful.

Towards the end of the game Aguero committed an egregious foul on defender David Luiz which led to a brawl and a straight red card. Fernandinho got involved in the melee and grabbed Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas by the throat and shoved him over the advertising boards. He too was sent off.

The FA upheld the red cards. Aguero was banned for four matches and Fernandinho for three. The suspensions alone were bad enough but the ramifications were even bigger.

Following the loss to Chelsea, Manchester City trailed the league leaders by four points. With Aguero and Fernandinho out of the lineup, City lost ground and now trail the Blues by seven points.

Guardiola needs to make sure that his stars take out their aggression on the playing field rather than on the opposition players.
