It was announced this week that bad boy Joey Barton would be returning to the Premier League in January with Burnley. This is on the heels of the player being cut from Rangers for fighting with teammates and management.

Barton is not even back playing yet and already has been hit with a ban. The FA has charged him with placing more than 1260 bets over the last ten years.

The player is so brazen that he didn’t even try to hide his gambling. The betting company reached out to the FA to alert the organization about Barton’s habits.

Burnley was forced to make a statement about this embarrassing situation just two days before Christmas. The club’s official site announced, “Burnley Football Club have today been made aware of FA charges brought against Joey Barton relating to historic betting on football matches. The club will be discussing the matter with Joey and his legal representatives and will be making no further comment on the matter at this time.”

Great way for Barton to mark his return to the league.
