3. Wilfried Zaha

A significant debate rages amongst the Tottenham fan base on the merits of signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. Proponents of the pacy wide man point to his excellent play for Palace this season as clear proof that he could help Spurs. Skeptics point to his failings at Manchester United as proof he can’t hack it at a big club.

Count me among the proponents of a Zaha signing. I happen to believe he’s almost the perfect solution for what Spurs need in January. He would give Pochettino’s attack the thing it needs the most: real width.

Of course, Sam Allardyce is desperate to hold on to him. If he leaves Palace, the Eagles will almost certainly play host to a relegation battle at Selhurst Park. They have the talent to avoid the drop without Zaha, but it could get very scary.

The X factor here is whether or not Zaha’s head has really been turned by Tottenham’s overtures. If he has his heart set on a move to White Hart Lane, the two clubs should be able to find a transfer fee that works. If he’s lukewarm about the move, Palace should have enough backbone to keep him. In the end, there’s a real chance that Zaha ends up a Tottenham player in January.
