Lionel Messi will attempt to bring Paulo Dybala to Barcelona
Everyone knows how important Lionel Messi is to Barcelona’s efforts on the pitch. What some people may not understand, is how important the diminutive Argentine is to the club’s recruitment efforts. Messi will be counted on to play a large role in the recruitment of Juventus striker Paulo Dybala.
El Mundo Deportivo has the story claiming that Barcelona are closely monitoring Dybala’s contract talks with Juventus. Originally it seemed the talented attacker would be happy to commit his future to the Serie A giants, but then his wage demands suddenly changed.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what happened to up Dybala’s demands. Barcelona haven’t been afraid to make their interest in him known through a variety of back channels. In fact, it seems that Dybala is the club’s number one summer transfer target.
One factor working against Barcelona is the issue of playing time. Dybala is clearly the number one choice striker for the Old Lady. If he moves to Barca, he could easily find himself on the bench.
That’s why it’s going to be important for Messi to step in and convince Dybala to make the move. As a young Argentine player, Dybala has obviously idolized Messi for years. One can only imagine the weight that a personal entreaty from Messi would carry with Dybala. It’s hard to imagine him saying no to the world’s best player.

Don’t expect Juventus to give up without a fight though. They understand just how important the 24-year-old star is to their future. The Italians would be wise to give in to his wage demands. Losing him to Barcelona at any price would be a bitter pill to swallow.
In football, it’s very unwise to bet against Lionel Messi. Barcelona will count on their prolific playmaker to make countryman Paulo Dybala a centrepiece of the club’s future. We’ll have to see if Messi can provide his club a valuable assist in the transfer market.
