5. History is hard

If making history were easy, everyone would do it. The truth is it’s very difficult to make your mark in the Premier League history book. That pressure will cause Chelsea to come out tight at White Hart Lane.

I don’t expect Conte’s club to play conservatively for the full 90 minutes, but they will come out playing very cautious football. The Blues will want to absorb Tottenham’s opening salvo.

That sound all well and good in theory, but it’s a nightmare in practice. Coming out trying not to lose the match for even 10 minutes might be enough to cost Chelsea the record. The Blues could easily fall behind by a crucial goal while dealing with their nerves.

Ultimately, Chelsea will grow into the match over time, but look for Spurs to come out and get an early advantage. The combination of the Blues feeling immense pressure and Tottenham being buoyed by the home crowd could give Spurs a decisive early lead.
