Premier League festive period winners and losers

Tottenham – 3 wins – 9 points gained – Winners

Tottenham made quite a statement over the holidays. First Spurs traveled to Watford and Southampton and won both matches by an identical 1-4 scoreline.

Next up was red-hot Chelsea at White Hart Lane. Antonio Conte’s side came in to the match with 13 straight victories.

Most thought that Chelsea would be the victors. Instead Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen put an end to the Blues’ winning streak. Eriksen served up two passes which Alli headed home to give their side a 2-0 win.

In defeating Chelsea, Tottenham made many sit up and take notice. Spurs moved up to third in the table while knocking Manchester City down to fourth and North London rivals Arsenal down to fifth.

Tottenham’s win was also a win for the rest of the pack trying to close the gap on current leaders Chelsea.
