Premier League festive period winners and losers

Burnley certainly enjoyed the holiday season.

Home victories over struggling Middlesbrough and Sunderland allowed the Clarets to put some distance between themselves and those at the bottom of the table. Sean Dyche’s side moved up four places from 16th to a respectable 12th.

Andre Gray played a major role in his team’s success. Gray scored the only goal of the match versus Middlesbrough and became the first Burnley player to score a Premier League hat-trick in the 4-1 win over the Black Cats.

Burnley closed out the holidays with a visit to the Etihad Stadium and Manchester City. Despite ending up on the losing end of a tightly contested 1-2 result, the Clarets proved that they are no pushovers.
