Middlesbrough’s festive period was very similar to Watford’s.
Things got off to a bad start at Turf Moor when an error from former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes allowed Andre Gray to score in the 80th minute. The result was a 1-0 win for the home side.
Middlesbrough had the lead over Manchester United at Old Trafford after 85 minutes. It looked as if a monumental victory was in the bag for the Teesiders. Within two minutes that dream was out the window as Martial and Pogba gave the home side the win.
A rather dull 0-0 draw at the Riverside Stadium gave Boro its only point of the holiday season.
Aitor Karanka’s side dropped from 14th to 16th and are now just three points above the relegation zone.
