Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has a chance to move to Barcelona and must take it while he has the chance.

There are rumors swirling that Liverpool’s Adam Lallana is being eyed by Barcelona as a possible replacement for midfielder Ivan Rakitic. The Croatian is reportedly unhappy with his playing time under manager Luis Enrique and is looking for a move to join his friends Dani Alves and Mario Mandzukic at Juventus.

Whether or not this is simply silly season reporting is untrue but if it is, then Lallana must make the push to join the Blaugrana. The fact that he is even being considered must be fantastic for him as he could have hardly imagined this while playing for Southampton in the Championship and League One.

Another contributor here at Playing for 90 claims that because Lallana is 28-years-old he must stay put at Liverpool because “this is probably Lallana’s last shot at a really big contract. While he could make a few more pounds at Barcelona, he’ll be compensated handsomely at Liverpool”.

While Lallana may have the security of the familiar confines of Liverpool, his age is precisely why he must make the move to Barcelona. At 28, he is in the midst of his prime and his years at the top of his game are counting down. If he has the chance to go play for one of the best clubs in world football and play alongside the likes of Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez he should not turn it down.

Liverpool is a fine club with a history that rivals any other club but at this moment in time there is no argument which club is the better situation for a player. Barcelona are almost guaranteed at least one or two trophies every season, whether it is one of the many domestic titles they are in the running for or a deep run in the Champions League.

Lallana has also never played in the Champions League and while Liverpool have an excellent chance at making the competition next season, he will have no worries about qualifying while he is at Barcelona.

In every profession there is a highest level. For software engineers it may be working at Google or Microsoft, for reporters it may be CNN or BBC, and for footballers it may be playing at the Camp Nou for Barcelona alongside historically great players. For the sake of his career advancement, Adam Lallana has to jump at the chance to pull on the blue and red stripes of the Blaugrana.
