3. New signings paying dividends
Sevilla have recently purchased Clement Lenglet from Nancy and loaned Stevan Jovetic from Inter Milan. Both featured on Thursday against Real Madrid and made instant impact to the side.
Although he could be blamed for Benzema’s goal in the 93rd minute, Lenglet had a great outing against Los Blancos. The 21-year-old French striker was very calm at the back and helped stabilize Sevilla’s defense.

Jovetic also had a huge influence in the game. Although he was just signed on Tuesday and had the first training session on Wednesday, the Montenegrin international was thrown into the game by the 44th minute after Joaquin Correa suffered an injury. Just nine minutes after being on the pitch, the former Manchester City man scored a beautiful volley to help his new club take the lead. He was a constant danger in the Madrid goal area throughout the second half and unlucky not to get another goal to his name after the post and the keeper Kiko Casilla denied his attempts.
With the regular starters like Samir Nasri, Franco Vasquez, Steven N’Zonzi, Vitolo, Mariano, and Sergio Rico also set to return to the starting eleven along with these two, Sevilla will surely give their Madrid counterparts a headache on Sunday.
