A look at possible destinations for the disgruntled midfielder.

The English Premier League season can take twists and turns as the months go on. For West Ham United midfielder Dimitri Payet, his personal saga has now garnered a significant amount of attention.

Just less than a year ago, the French international signed a new contract with the Hammers. The deal signed in February made him the highest-paid player in the club’s history, earning 125,000 pounds a week. Committed to West Ham until the summer of 2021, the 29-year old’s future surely seemed set with the London side.

But 2017 has brought a change of heart for all involved. Speaking to the media earlier this month, manager Slaven Bilic stated that “we have said that we don’t want to sell our best players, but Dimitri Payet does not want to play for us”.

Payet’s attitude has left West Ham supporters angry and the club looking to make the best possible decision moving ahead. While what Bilic said is true and no team with high aspirations looks to sell their best talent, the Hammers are in a position where they will likely have no choice in the matter.

After a dismal start to the Premier League campaign, results have been improving for West Ham. Currently 12th in the table, December brought a run of three consecutive wins. Bilic’s squad earned a 3-0 victory against Crystal Palace last weekend at the Olympic Stadium.

We take a look at five European clubs who should push to purchase Dimitri Payet this month.
