Arsenal

Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger stumbled a bit last month with two consecutive losses, but are unbeaten to begin the new year (3-1-0). Adding a player of Payet’s quality would be a major step toward climbing the Premier League table.

The Gunners boast talent at a number of positions. Their back-line has been stellar and their defensive midfielders have been in good form. Strikers Olivier Giroud, Lucas Perez and Danny Welbeck provide great depth, while Petr Cech is reliable in goal.

But Arsenal are currently battling different elements off the pitch. The club has struggled in signing Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to new contracts.

On top of this, rumours of Sanchez securing a transfer away from the Emirates could be devastating. Italian giants Juventus have been reportedly interested in the Chilean international’s services, along with Manchester City and Chelsea.

While Sanchez is certainly not guaranteed to be on the way out, Wenger may feel that another midfielder of Dimitri Payet’s quality and attacking ability will be important this January.
