Paris Saint-Germain

The Ligue 1 title-holders are currently in a position that they are not accustomed to after recent successful seasons. Third.

Three points back of both AS Monaco and OGC Nice at this point in the league campaign indicates an active transfer window, with Dimitri Payet a target that would certainly improve the squad.

Striker Edinson Cavani has been spectacular, scoring 18 league goals thus far. But manager Unai Emery knows that the club will need more in order to return to the top of Ligue 1 and be able to advance past Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Julian Draxler arrived from Wolfsburg earlier this month and already has made a strong impression. The German international scored the match-winner in PSG’s victory last weekend at Stade Rennais.

Pairing Draxler in the midfield and attack with Payet could be an incredible combination, as well as being able to add Payet’s impressive free-kick abilities.

In need of improvement within their domestic league and never shy about spending during the transfer period, January could see Dimitri Payet return to his native France with Paris Saint-Germain.
