The Blues want to bring in the highly rated Belgian winger

Chelsea are currently tracking Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, according to latest reports coming out from Europe.

It was first reported by the Spanish media Don Balon, which claimed that the Belgian’s stellar performances this season have caught the eyes of a number of top clubs, including Chelsea, both Manchester clubs, and Bayern.

Although the 23-year-old winger signed a contract extension with the Spanish giants this season, which ties him down until 2022, a recent altercation with the coach Diego Simeone may force the player to leave the club.

The London outfits are planning to swoop in for Carrasco and will not hesitate to trigger his £86m release clause.

It is likely that the interest emerged after Antonio Conte’s reported clash with the star striker Diego Costa in the training ground, setting off rumors about the Spanish international’s exit from the club with several Chinese clubs and Atletico interested.

Should Costa end up leaving the club, Conte wants to bring in Carrasco while moving either one of Eden Hazard or Pedro Rodriguez up top to create a dangerous and speedy forward trio.

Although winger by trade, Carrasco has made his name known by his scoring abilities. He famously scored an equalizing goal for Los Colchoneros in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League final, and currently has 10 goals and three assists in 25 appearances this season.

The technically gifted player is also capable of breezing past defenders in one on one situations. Standing at 5’11 tall, he is not afraid of getting physical with oppositions if it’s necessary. He will fit right in at the Premier League and should he join Chelsea, he will unite with the international teammates such as Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, and Michy Batshuayi.

The two clubs have a very good relationship between them, and have done several deals in recent years including transfers of Costa, Courtois, and Filipe Luis.

Meanwhile for Atletico, Carrasco is not only the player tipped to depart the club this season. Los Colchoneros are having a tough time in the domestic league and are planning to rebuild by offloading other stars like Antoine Griezmann and Kevin Gameiro.

Greizmann has been the subject of Manchester United’s wanted list for quite some time now, and the Red Devils are ready to break the transfer record again to sign the French international.

Unites are also interested in Gameiro but face a strong competition from his former club PSG.

Next: Lukaku not interested in Chelsea return

It is strongly believed that next season will be the last for Simeone at the helm of Atletico and he wants to win titles by selling £200m worth of players to rebuild the squad.

With the Argentine desperate to reunite with Costa, he may just give up Carrasco to the Blues in return.
