5. Harry Winks

Some of you might be a little surprised to see the young midfielder appear on this list. After all, Winks has already proven that he’s capable of contributing off the bench in Premier League matches.

What Spurs need to see from him now is the ability to really stand out against lesser competition. Looking the part against elite opponents is one challenge. Showing that you can be exceptional against mediocre competition is quite another.

I want to see Winks really assert himself on the offensive end of the pitch against Wycombe. He should get plenty of time on the ball as one of the best midfielders on the pitch. It’s not going to be enough if he just keeps the ball moving around the pitch.

Instead, I want to see Winks really get forward and take Wycombe defenders on. That’s the thing he needs to add most to his game at the Premier League level. Being involved with some incisive runs today would show his capability to do it on a bigger stage.
