The Return of Diego Costa

“What’s all this talk about?” Diego Costa must have thought as he put his side up 1-0 on Sunday before slapping around the side-line flag. With an offer in excess of £30 million on the table from China, Costa must have had dreams similar to Ebenezer Scrooge. Well—to the benefit of Antonio Conte and the Chelsea players, Diego Costa has returned to his rampart, goal-scoring ways.

The current leader in the Golden Boot race with 15 goals, Costa has a habit of causing a stir with Liverpool players and supporters alike after having bust-up’s with Martin Skrtel and stomping on Emre Can’s leg—for which he was formally charged by the English FA. If Costa can keep a clear-head and legally bully his opponents, than this might be a good matchup for him. Especially if he doesn’t have to face Joel Matip on his way to the goal.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has played down the incident where he apparently yelled “Go to China!” claiming that Diego is happy at the club. While this might be true, he previously looked for a summer-move away and could still be tempted out of the Blues outfit. After all, what is a £30 million per year contract worth to a player who grew up in the slums of Brazil?
