3. Jean Seri
Nice were glad to see midfielder Jean Michael Seri back in the lineup over the weekend. The Ivorian had little impact in the African Cup of Nations as his country was winless in the group stage of the competition. The 25-year-old scored in his first game back from the tournament in Nice’s 3-1 win, playing 78 minutes before being subbed off.
This season, he has not been known for his goal scoring as much as he has been for his playmaking. Seri leads Ligue 1 in assists with eight this season. He has been a very influential player for the team with an ability to pick a pass very well and unlock tough defenses. Both Balotelli and Plea will look towards the midfielder for through balls and quick passes in order to score against Monaco.
Seri will be a very pesky player to mark in the midfield for Monaco. Shutting him down should be a big part of the game plan for Monaco if they want to win the overall battle in the midfield. The Ivory Coast international will look to have a big influence on the result of the match, whether it be setting up goals or scoring them himself.
