United midfield

Despite difficulties against Hull City both on Wednesday evening and in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals last week, United’s midfield has been a tremendous positive for the squad.

The attacking capabilities have not been quite as potent as of late, but the amount of quality within the team should be able to produce on Sunday at Leicester.

Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera have performed well in the holding midfield positions, with Belgian international Marouane Fellaini able to provide depth. The work that these players have put in will allow those higher up the pitch to fully flourish.

Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Wayne Rooney have each brought crucial goals and play-making abilities at various points in the campaign. But it will be Paul Pogba who may likely have the greatest influence on Sunday’s match.

The French midfielder has been displaying excellent vision and accurate passing, as defensive midfield help behind him allows Pogba to get forward in the attack. Both in service and scoring on his own, the Foxes will have their hands full this weekend.

In his more comfortable role, Pogba will be able to thrive with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford against a Leicester side that has had difficulty in the defensive third.
