Troubled times for Ranieri, the Tinkerman

Leicester City and Claudio Ranieri have been struggling to retain their incredible form from last year. For those who may have been living in a bunker without internet, Leicester City won the Premier League at a mere 5000/1 odd. To put that in perspective, that was the same odds as Elvis Presley being found alive. With great expectations coming into this season, they have fallen flat and failed to produce the stunning displays, both at home and on the road, that made them a fairytale come true.

After a summer of rumors Leicester were able to retain a large portion of their starting XI- with the absence of N’Golo Kante. Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel and Riyad Mahrez were all tied down to contract extensions in the hopes the club would be able to retain their title defense but this season has proved to be anything but that.

The Champions now find themselves in 17th position on the Premier League table and a telling -17 goals against. They are in a tight relegation battle with six teams sitting within two points of one another.

With everything seemingly going wrong at Leicester City Football Club, why haven’t they sacked the man in charge? Why haven’t widespread changes been implemented to combat the downward fall of these Champions? Perhaps the most important question is, can Leicester City stop the inevitable crisis they seem to find themselves in at the moment and bring stability back to the club?

Playing for 90 examines the predicament Leicester City find themselves in and believes Claudio Ranieri should still stay in control, despite the club searching for their first league win in 2017.
