Champions League confidence

Despite their struggles domestically, Leicester City’s debut campaign in the UEFA Champions League has been nothing short of sensational. The Foxes captured the top spot in Group G, losing only one of six matches and will face La Liga club Sevilla in the Round of 16.

The added fixtures certainly made for difficulty in squad rotation and proper recovery time, but Ranieri’s side seemed to respond well after playing in club football’s most prestigious competition.

After each of Leicester’s six group stage matches, their return to the Premier League saw them earn a result five times (3-2-1). Victories against Burnley and Crystal Palace came only days after a Champions League triumph.

Success can be a fantastic motivator, and Leicester’s European journey certainly has the capability to advance to the quarter-final round.

Sevilla will provide a stern test over two legs beginning later this month, but Ranieri and his squad will be focused on positive results.

The UEFA Champions League offers Leicester City a unique opportunity to improve their overall form as the Premier League calendar moves ahead.
