Jamie Vardy

English striker Jamie Vardy was one of the key catalysts for Leicester City’s remarkable title last season. The talented forward scored 24 goals and provided six assists during the campaign, often in truly spectacular fashion.

After such an incredible year, Vardy was bound to have trouble duplicating such great success and has scored only five goals thus far. But the coming months are sure to bring great improvement for the Foxes in the final third.

Vardy is at his best on the counter-attack, and Leicester’s midfield have struggled in both possession and in transition this season. Vardy still possesses the ability to take over a match, as he displayed against Manchester City in December with an impressive hat-trick.

The critical aspect will be involving other forwards in the squad as well, as players like Islam Slimani and Ahmed Musa can all still contribute more than they have already.

Ranieri will need better performances from his midfield, which will undoubtedly help make Vardy more productive at the top of the line-up. Riyad Mahrez and Danny Drinkwater were important to success last season, and will be equally important in avoiding relegation now.

As the line-up around him improves, Jamie Vardy will begin to see his goal numbers increase in 2017 and help to end Leicester’s current scoring drought.
