Claudio Ranieri’s management

Claudio Ranieri has come a long way from his “Tinkerman” reputation with Chelsea years ago, as the Italian boss demonstrated a very consistent line-up and approach last season. But he also understands when change is needed, and he will be able to make the changes necessary for success.

More from Leicester City

Leicester normally utilise a 4-4-2 formation with at least one holding midfielder in front of the back-line. Ideally the Foxes will absorb pressure, gain possession quickly and strike on the counter-attack.

This was a philosophy that astonishingly brought them to the Premier League summit. But the competition has caught up in some respects, and they are certainly missing N’Golo Kante’s incredible work rate in the middle.

Leicester and Ranieri have used a high-press system from time to time, looking to close space quickly and force the opposition into making mistakes. This was seen often last weekend against Manchester United, although the final result certainly did not work out as planned.

A more proactive approach and a modified formation can bring Leicester City more victories, especially against sides that have difficulty defending under constant pressure.

Claudio Ranieri’s player management and preparations will ultimately be able to bring Leicester the points needed for safety.
