Victor Wanyama vs Adam Lallana

The midfield is always an area of great importance, especially in big matches. This match will be no different, as Victor Wanyama will look to shut down dangerman Adam Lallana. Overshadowed by recent struggles, Lallana has been having a very solid season for Liverpool. He has 14 goals and assists combined, split evenly between the two. Lallana will be a big part of the success of Liverpool in this match. His set up play will need to be top-notch if he wants to beat the stubborn Spurs defense. The runs he makes into the box could be the key to creating or even scoring goals himself.

Wanyama will be looked upon to shut down Lallana, plugging up the middle of the park. His midfield partner Dembele will be a big help, with both of them often sitting in front of the back line. With Klopp often playing quick, counter attacking football, the two midfield men will more likely be defensive minded for most of the game. Wanyama will need to cut passes out to make the defensive line’s job a little easier.

Players like Lallana will be key to a Liverpool win, and the same goes for Wanyama for Spurs. Though they perform different roles in their respective teams, both players will need to be at the top of their game for the full 90 minutes.
