In defense, one of Liverpool FC’s biggest problems is organization and a consistent center back pairing that compliment each other. In Johnathan Tah, the Reds may have an answer to both issues.

  • A teammate of Brandt’s at Leverkusen, Tah is highly touted as one of the most promising young center backs Germany has to offer.

Therefore, bringing in a player of his caliber will likely mean splashing some cash – something Jurgen Klopp has proven he will do, but not yet in defense. Ragnar Klavan was cheap (like £3-4m cheap) and Joel Matip came in on a free transfer. The former hasn’t proven himself as capable every week, and the latter, amid both fitness and selection issues, hasn’t yet had the chance to pan out.

That said, bringing in a player like Tah gives Liverpool defensive stability and a player with a solid, physical stature that would compliment someone like Matip and potentially even Dejan Lovren. Tah’s game is still developing, but he is a capable, brute of a defender that could vastly boost the Reds’ defensive profile.

Again, the fee is a massive question, but regardless of what competition’s Liverpool FC qualify for in the 2017/18 campaign, Tah would be a top signing.
