3. Johannes Geis

Sticking with the Bundesliga theme, another young talent (who also happens to be German) is Schalke midfielder, Johannes Geis.

Jordan Henderson is Liverpool FC captain and will continue to be one of Klopp’s first choices as long as his form in the No.6 role continues. However, Gini Wijnaldum and Emre Can have traded time along Adam Lallana and neither appears to be a favorite to keep the spot in the long run. Enter a player like Geis.

More of a No.6 than Henderson, Geis’ strengths lay deeper in the midfield. Plus, the German is technically sound and has a solid display of passing. He could compliment Henderson in a role like where he plays for Schalke, pending a Klopp intervention.

Interestingly, Geis’ stock has somewhat dipped in the last couple of years with players like Julian Weigl and Joshua Kimmich emerging as the league’s prominent youth. However, with plenty of time left in his career to continue developing, it’s hardly a knock on his potential. What stands in his way is a name mentioned above – Emre Can. Similar in age but different in skill set, Can is still favored by Klopp despite roller coaster performances. However, if he goes in the summer, Liverpool would look at a replacement and Geis would be a nice fit.
