Leonardo Bonucci – Juventus

Antonio Conte will want depth and skill for his three-man defensive line moving forward, and there may not be another candidate as perfect as Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci. Part of recent title-winning sides in the Italian Serie A, the 29-year-old defender would bring a massive amount of knowledge and skill to Chelsea’s defence.

Bonucci’s experience playing under Conte makes this a match made in heaven, having worked together at Juventus and with the Italian national side. The defender understands what the manager wants to see from his players, and Chelsea would benefit from essentially having an assistant coach on the pitch.

Bonucci’s positioning and vision are of the highest quality, and he is even able to score a goal from time to time. Manchester City are reportedly interested as well, but one would assume that his relationship with Conte would be a major positive for Chelsea.

The Chelsea back-line with Gary Cahill and David Luiz would only improve with the signing of Bonucci.

The change to a 3-4-3 formation has been a catalyst for Chelsea’s success this season. Leonardo Bonucci would help to ensure that their defensive brilliance continues in the future.
