Arsenal pick up the club’s first trophy since winning the league ten years earlier

In 2014 it had been nine years since Arsenal last won a major trophy (the 2005 FA Cup).

The stage was set for Arsene Wenger’s side to end this drought when Arsenal and Hull met in the FA Cup final on May 17th.

Arsenal were heavy favorites against the Tigers and therefore no one expected any other outcome.

As we’ve seen time and time again, things don’t always go as planned. Eight minutes in to the match Hull were up 2-0 and Arsenal fans were watching in shocked silence. Still there was 82 more minutes to be played.

Santi Cazorla helped ease nerves when he scored on a sensational free kick from distance in the 17th minute.

Hull maintained its lead 2-1 at the half.

In the 71st minute Laurent Koscielny scored the equalizer from a corner.

The match went to overtime where Aaron Ramsey finished off the comeback with a 109th minute winning goal.

The victory ended the 3,283 day wait for Arsenal fans’ first major trophy since 2005.
