Michael Owen scores twice in the final eight minutes as Liverpool defeat Arsenal
Arsenal and Liverpool met in the 2001 FA Cup Final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
The contest remained goalless until the 72nd minute. Robert Pires passed to Freddie Ljungberg who went around Liverpool keeper Sander Westerveld to give Arsenal the lead.
The Gunners were just 18 minutes away from a victory but it wasn’t to be.
When 21-year-old Michael Owen equalized in the 83rd minute, it looked as if the match would go to extra time.
Five minutes later Owen became an Anfield legend when he out ran the Gunners’ defense and put the ball past David Seaman in goal.
The comeback was complete and Liverpool lifted the trophy in front of a shell-shocked Arsenal side.
