Benjamin Mendy – AS Monaco

Yet another option for the left-back position from AS Monaco, Manchester City could find a young talent for the role in French international Benjamin Mendy. With his team-mate Fabinho often deployed in the midfield, Mendy has showcased immense potential along Monaco’s back-line.

Mendy joined the Ligue 1 leaders this past summer, and has made an immediate impact in the French top flight.

The young defender came through Le Havre’s youth system and enjoyed several strong seasons with Marseille prior to the current term.

Mendy has recorded seven assists across all competitions thus far for Monaco, and brings qualities that would immediately make him useful for Pep Guardiola. Accurate on crosses, excellent positioning and pace moving forward into the attack on the left all make Mendy an attractive option.

City have reportedly been working to make the move happen, along with possible competition from Manchester United.

An interesting aspect would be a possible decision between Mendy and Fabinho. But Manchester City have made the left-back position an important target this summer, and Benjamin Mendy could be the player for the future.
