Arsene Wenger brought “beautiful football” to Arsenal

There was a time when the chant “Boring, boring Arsenal” was regularly heard at Arsenal matches.

Prior to Wenger’s arrival in North London the Gunners were known as a side that relied heavily on defensive play rather than offense. It was successful but many fans found it less than exciting to watch.

Wenger’s sides were more about attack and fast paced offensive bursts. No longer was Arsenal seen as boring. Instead they became one of the most creative and entertaining teams in England.

Possession became a major part of Arsenal’s game. Some have gone on to complain that Wenger’s focus on beautiful football often leaves his team vulnerable at the back. Regardless, Arsenal continue to be one of the most innovative teams in the league and Wenger’s style of play has resulted in a lot of success.
