Premier League competition

Positioned fifth in the league table, one of the greatest difficulties Liverpool face in their pursuit of the UEFA Champions League is the competition in front of them. That may seem like a bit of an obvious statement, but it is not easy to see how they get themselves up from their current spot.

League leaders Chelsea are in a prime position to capture the title, while a collapse of epic proportions would be needed for the Blues to miss out on the top four. Despite Europa League elimination and a recent loss at Anfield in February, Tottenham have displayed consistent form and bounced back impressively in a 4-0 thrashing of Stoke City.

An injury to Gabriel Jesus was unfortunate, but Manchester City and manager Pep Guardiola have the quality to keep earning positive results and maximum points on their travels.

Finally, until otherwise claimed, no one will bet against Arsenal keeping a strong hold on fourth place.

The race will be certainly be close and likely come down to the final matches, but Liverpool’s current form creates a massive challenge to overtake their competition in the table.
