Mourinho’s reputation
Willian enjoyed a strong season last year amidst a disappointing Chelsea campaign. Despite a good relationship with Jose Mourinho, Willian was able to experience one of the negative traits that has followed the Special One around Europe during his successful managerial stops.
His time at a football club will eventually sour after a few seasons in charge.
Mourinho’s first stint at Chelsea brought multiple trophies, but he only lasted three years. A historic treble with Inter Milan saw him stay only two.
His time at Real Madrid ended with a team divided, as did his second spell at Stamford Bridge. For all the incredible work that Mourinho is capable of, he can see his time at a club crumble.
While this is not necessarily guaranteed to take place at Manchester United, history has an uncanny ability to repeat itself. Willian’s proposed move to Manchester United this summer could see déjà vu for the Brazilian just as he becomes acclimated to his new side.
Conversely, Antonio Conte appears to be building something special with the Blues. It may be in Willian’s best interest to stay the course within his current surroundings.
