Paulo Dybala will snub Real Madrid

When Real Madrid decide they really want to sign a player, they are almost always successful. Unfortunately for Los Blancos, things aren’t going to go their way this summer in the case of Juventus hit man Paulo Dybala.

Instead of moving to Spain, the talented striker is set to extend his contract with Juventus. He may become a member of Real Madrid one day, but it isn’t going to happen this summer. Instead, he’ll continue to compete for Serie A titles for the foreseeable future.

I must confess that I’m a bit surprised. Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane have seemingly been focused on acquiring Dybala for the majority of the season. The sheer volume of reports linking them to Dybala made me believe a summer transfer was inevitable.

Credit Juventus for refusing to give in to the pressure from the Spanish giants. It’s not as if The Old Lady aren’t a massive club too. There’s really no reason the Italian giants should feel like they have to sell their brightest stars to anyone. Instead of accepting a Real Madrid move as inevitable, officials at Juve launched a massive offensive to keep their most talented young star.

More from Real Madrid

Now all of those efforts are going to pay off. Dybala will sign a new deal that will only increase Juventus’ leverage in future transfer negotiations. Don’t be surprised to see the new contract feature a healthy raise for the player and possibly a record-breaking release clause.

In some instances inserting a release clause only increases the likelihood of a player moving. That wouldn’t be true in this instance. Juventus might see fit to include a release clause of well above £100 million. In truth, if I were in charge of the club, it might reach the £200 million mark just to keep the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona away.

Paulo Dybala will likely take his talents to one the La Liga giants sometime in the future, but it won’t be this summer. Juventus deserve a ton of credit for hanging on to their talented talisman and breaking Real Madrid’s heart in the process.
