Attacking midfielders

Dele Alli-6.5

In many ways, this match was vintage Dele. He looked off the pace for almost the entire affair before popping up with a magnificent goal. Spurs fans should understand that he’s worth supporting even when he looks as if it isn’t his day.

As a result, he gets a pretty reasonable mark here despite being anonymous for almost 90 minutes. That’s what goals are worth. It’s very possible that without his sumptuous finish we’d be complaining about dropped points. Dele’s game isn’t perfect, but he pops up with crucial goals when his club need him.

Christian Eriksen-6.5

The Danish attacker earns the same score as Dele in the complete opposite fashion. He was decent, but not excellent for large stretches of the match. In sharp contrast to his aforementioned compatriot, he played his best football at the beginning of the match.

Eriksen also loses points for failing to finish a pretty easy chance in the first half. A player of his quality really should be burying the rebound chance he missed in the opening stanza. It’s a miss that made the match significantly more stressful than it needed to be.
