They are your heroes. The players who score the goals that fire your team to victory. Every great team has one. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, you have two. Barcelona have three! Here is the definitive top 10 list of top strikers in the Premier League!

Every fan will have an argument as to why their team’s striker is the greatest. The debates rage in bars and forums the world over. I have taken a number of things into account in compiling these rankings:

  1. Goals. Lots of goals. This is the most important metric. It is why they get paid and command the biggest transfer fees.
  2. Consistency. If you’ve done it over multiple years that counts. Michael Ricketts, Marcus Stewart, Benjani, Rickie Lambert – Premier League greats? No, but they all had great seasons. The more often you’ve achieved greatness the higher the ranking. Also, it has to be in the Premier League. I don’t care if you did it in France or Spain.
  3. Winning. Goals matter but wins count. The best strikers aren’t simply the most prolific or beautiful to watch. They are the players who make their teams win. Therefore I’ve taken into account titles, trophies and Golden Boots.
  4. Team contributions. The better you are at getting assists and helping your team win the higher you ranked on this list. This is why Mario Balotelli could never make it on a list like this.
