Goalkeeping

Chelsea’s ability to get optimal results throughout the majority of their matches is aided by strong goalkeeping play at the back. With Thibaut Courtois’ skill at the position, the Blues are prepared well to reach the FA Cup final.

The Belgian international has been spectacular since taking over the starting role at Stamford Bridge in 2014. Courtois has made 51 saves and earned 13 clean sheets during the current Premier League campaign.

The 24-year-old’s size and physical attributes serve him well in goal, able to cover significant space with his impressive reach. Still growing and developing his overall game, Courtois has the potential to become one of the world’s best.

More from Playing for 90

Courtois played well against Manchester United in their FA Cup quarter-final victory to keep the clean sheet, and has demonstrated a strong rapport with his defence and back-line.

Communicative throughout matches to keep team-mates in the best possible positions on the pitch, the keeper’s leadership skills continue to blossom.

Breaking through Chelsea’s defence has not always been an easy task this season. But even when it does take place, Antonio Conte has the luxury of an elite shot-stopper at the back of the line-up.

A step away from the FA Cup final, Chelsea should feel confident with one of the Premier League’s quality talents in Thibaut Courtois.
