Harry Kane’s injury

In cup competitions, success and failure can be determined by who a club must play as they progress in the tournament. For some cases, a key component is who a team will not be playing that makes a massive difference as well.

With this thought in mind, an injury to Tottenham striker Harry Kane bodes well for Chelsea making their way to the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

An ankle injury will keep the talented Spurs forward out of action for an extended period of time, and is reported to likely miss the FA Cup semi-final against their London rivals.

The England international has been crucial to success this season at White Hart Lane, and manager Mauricio Pochettino will require quality performances from the likes of Heung-Min Son and Vincent Janssen to fill the void.

Kane’s presence in the squad not only normally results in goals for Tottenham, but drawing defenders away from team-mates can help open up the Spurs attack in other areas. Despite a 2-0 victory against the Blues in January, Tottenham will have a difficult task replicating the result without their main striker.

With Harry Kane likely out for Tottenham, the road to Wembley and the FA Cup final becomes wider for Chelsea.
