Five Real Madrid players playing for their future

Keylor Navas
Florentino Perez took note of James Rodriguez during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, signing the Colombian star soon after the tournament. Another talent caught the Real Madrid president’s eye as well, with Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas joining Los Blancos later that summer.
Navas took over the starting role from club legend Iker Casillas the following season, and has performed well throughout much of his time at Real. However, recent form has seen a significant dip and Zidane may be looking for a new keeper in the coming transfer window.
Critical mistakes can stand out in a massive way, and this past weekend against Real Betis was a perfect example. The 30-year-old’s poor control led to Betis’ opening goal, as Real Madrid were close to dropping points at home and seeing Barcelona remain atop the league table.
Navas is capable of the spectacular, as he was for Los Ticos en route to the World Cup quarter-final stage. But better form will be expected from both Zidane and Perez as the campaign continues on. Reports of an exit grow louder, and it will be important for the goalkeeper to be at his best ahead of uncertain times.
Perhaps with a new club by the end of the summer transfer period, upcoming fixtures will be crucial for Keylor Navas at Real Madrid.
