Karim Benzema

The possibility of a transfer is not always motivation behind the need to play well for Real Madrid as the campaign comes to a close. Recently the subject of new contract talks at the Santiago Bernabeu, it will be important for striker Karim Benzema to keep up his tremendous play in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite significantly less fixtures in Europe than in La Liga, the French forward has scored the same number of goals in both competitions (7).

Perhaps more so than any other club, Real Madrid place a major priority on their results in Europe. Each year brings an all-consuming quest for their next Champions League triumph. And despite lesser production in the Spanish top flight, Benzema has been scoring goals when it counts the most.

Part of the famed “BBC” front-line with Cristiano Ronaldo and the currently injured Gareth Bale, Benzema is a forward who can cause any defence fits with his positioning and intelligent runs.
