Ross Barkley would fit in well at Tottenham

Tottenham and Arsenal seem destined for a summer transfer war to sign Everton midfielder Ross Barkley. If the English midfielder does leave Merseyside, expect him to opt for Spurs over their arch rivals.

Both North London clubs are being strongly linked with a summer move for Barkley. Everton would like to retain their midfield talisman, but Ronald Koeman admits the club will be forced to sell him if he doesn’t sign a new contract. Quite a few clubs will be more than happy to take Barkley off the Toffees’ hands.

In the end, the transfer race will very likely boil down to a North London Derby of sorts. Tottenham and Arsenal are used to doing battle on the pitch, but haven’t come up against one another in the transfer market too often.

The recent ascendancy of Tottenham to the top four of the Premier League should change that. Achieving regular Champions League qualification is helping Spurs close the financial and competitive gap with the Gunners. This summer’s race for Ross Barkley could be the first of many high-profile transfer battles between the two clubs.

Ultimately, you should back Tottenham to win Barkley’s signatures. Read on to discover the top five reasons why Spurs will emerge victorious.
