5. The new stadium

It may seem like a rather trivial detail, but Tottenham’s new stadium will give them an edge in this transfer battle. The chance to play in a brand new, world-class facility could tip the scales in Spurs favor.

Just imagine the allure of playing in the Premier League’s newest, and more importantly nicest, stadium. Barkley has enjoyed playing at Goodison Park, but it won’t hold a candle to Tottenham’s new ground.

In fairness, the superiority of Tottenham’s facilities over Arsenal isn’t just limited to the stadium itself. Spurs also have some of the nicest training facilities in the world. That could be an important factor for a player like Barkley.

Stadiums and facilities aren’t everything in a transfer battle, but they do matter. Barkley’s signing could be the first tangible payoff of Daniel Levy’s labour of love.
