Chelsea could be set on making a huge swoop by signing one of the worlds best defenders and it depends on Arsene Wenger.

Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte could be set to reunite with his former player Leonardo Bonucci by signing him from Juventus.

But it depends on Arsene Wenger’s decision on whether he leaves Arsenal or not.

If Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri stays at Juventus next season then it’s certain that Bonucci will leave.

Bonucci has fallen out with the Juve manager after arguing with him on the field and off the field.

Bonucci was linked with the Blues last summer and Conte’s good relationship with the defender means the Blues are favourites to sign him, according to Yahoo Sport.

And if Arsene Wenger stays at Arsenal, then it’s likely Allegri will stay at Juve, meaning Chelsea could sign the 29-year-old defender.

If Wenger does leave Arsenal, then Allegri will likely be a top contender for the job. If Allegri leaves  then it’s likely Bonucci will stay at Juventus.

So Chelsea fans should be hoping that Wenger stays at Arsenal for many reasons; including the fact that Allegri would probably do a good job at Arsenal and would thus become a serious contender. Additionally, if Wenger stays, Chelsea will get one of the best centre backs in the world.

Bonucci could fit in perfectly in the three man defence at Chelsea considering he’s played that system before under Conte at Juve.

Bonucci would likely team up with David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta (Dave) in what would be a formidable defence.

Antonio Conte has coached him at both club level at Juve and at international level for Italy.

Bonucci has also won several individual honours for his performances. including being two-time member of the Serie A Team of the Year and was named the Serie A Footballer of the Year in 2016.

Bonucci has been at Juve since 2010 and he was a key part of the infamous “BBC” defensive trio- Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini.

He would command a world record transfer fee if Chelsea do sign him in what would be a huge move for the club.  It would likely beat the current transfer world record fee that Chelsea got from selling David Luiz to PSG for £50m in 2014.

Next: What is Arsene Wenger thinking?

Of course, Chelsea bought Luiz back and if Bonucci signs, then Chelsea will have the two most expensive defenders in the world at their club.

So, Arsene Wenger, please stay at Arsenal! Sincerely- a Chelsea fan.
