Gary Cahill has recently admitted that he could never live up to John Terry as the next Chelsea captain choice so here are the top five candidates for the Chelsea armband next season.

Cahill, who is the current stand-in captain for John Terry, told the London Evening Standard that he could never replace the legendary Chelsea skipper as the next Chelsea captain choice.

"I would never try to fill John Terry’s boots. You can never fill that position. “When I took over as captain this season, either through him not being picked or not being available, it was a privilege to do that. “Firstly, I have learned from how he manages himself, how he plays and how he does things. But secondly, I never thought for one minute, or will ever think, that I’m replacing him."

The 31-year-old stand in captain has been playing impressively of late but it’s not certain he’ll still be a regular starter next season. Manager Antonio Conte could be looking to improve the team next season.

Terry, meanwhile, is out of contract at the end of the season and has not been offered a contract extension yet.

The 36-year-old, who has been at the club for 18 years, has not started a premier league game since September.

Here are the top five current players that can replace Terry as the captain.
