Fourth Chelsea captain choice: Cesar Azpilicueta (Dave)

This guy has been a rock in the Chelsea defence this whole season. He’s played in every premier league game so far and his consistency is unreal. He’s regularly one of Chelsea’s best players.

He has helped Chelsea keep 13 clean sheets this season while making 2.1 tackles and 2.1 interceptions per game (Whoscored).

He’s only 27-years-old as well. It feels like he’s been at Chelsea for over a decade now but he’s still got even more potential to improve as defenders tend to only get better with age.

He also lives and breathes Chelsea and I really can’t see him leaving the club anytime soon.

He’s not a natural leader per se but he’s a candidate for the armband if some of the other more natural choices somehow don’t work out.

He’s a fighter though, and he would lead by example with his battling attitude in each game. Some captains like to lead with their voices and leadership qualities and others prefer to let their playing on the pitch do the talking. Azpilicueta would do that.
