One team’s trash, another team’s treasure

Serge Gnabry was hardly utilized by Arsene Wenger while he was at Arsenal. The club loaned him out to West Bromwich Albion at the beginning of the 2015 campaign, but was never used.

Then come Rio 2016 Olympics, where Gnabry took advantage of his opportunity and salvaged a move to the German side Werder Bremen for £5 million. I know what you’re thinking, “what a robbery Werden Bremen just pulled.”

According to his teammate, Claudio Pizarro, Gnabry should stay with the German side for at least another season.

“He should stay here for a while and gather experience,” said Pizarro, who Gnabry has benched at Werden Bremen, told reporters. “He can still join a big club after that.”

The club has set a €10 million release clause in his contract, we’ll see if he makes Arsenal return in the summer.

With 10 Bundesliga goals under his belt so far, Gnabry has tripled his own value in less than a year.
