Bakayoko is the perfect defensive midfielder Manchester United needs

The Frenchman header against Manchester City salvaged Monaco into Champions League round of 8. This alone had Tiemoue Bakayoko value off the roof.

According to sources, Manchester United sent their head scout Marcel Bout to evaluate Bakayoko in the midst of Monaco’s 3-1 upset over City on Wednesday. With Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney expected to abscond Old Trafford this summer, Jose Mourinho top priorities are finding his £89 million man some help and enhancing his attacking options.

Monaco signed the midfielder for a fee of £7 million back in 2014, and boy what a bargain this was. Bakayoko has come into his own and grabbed the first-team starting role after struggling to find minutes his first few seasons.

Bakayoko doesn’t have the skill set of Pogba, but he’s more than efficient with his strong tackling and passing ability to succeed in the Premier League, should teams come calling this summer.
