Left Wing: Eden Hazard-2012-current

Eden Hazard is one of the most technically gifted and creative players to have graced the Premier League. He’s also Chelsea’s best player today.

Signed from Lille for a modest £32m most Chelsea fans probably didn’t even know who he was at the time. I happened to only know him from playing Fifa (bows head in shame) but I remember being excited by his arrival along with the arrival of Oscar who had also just been signed (what a great transfer window!).

Hazard adopted the number 17 shirt and played alongside the number 10 Juan Mata who had signed in the previous season for the blues and Oscar.

What a time that was. Hazard, Mata and Oscar under Roberto  Di Matteo was a joy to watch at times. These three players were a big part of the rebuilding project Chelsea had on their hands with their stars such as Ballack and Makalele having retired. Anyways, I digress.

Hazard had an exceptional first season for Chelsea and scored 13 goals in all competitions.

In his second season (2013-14) he won the PFA Young Player of the Year award and was runner-up to the PFA award to Luis Suarez.

However, he went on to win that award after his stellar 2014-15 season where he racked up 19 goals in all competitions. He played in every game of that season and scored 14 league goals and made 10 assists helping Chelsea to win the Premier League once again after a four-year hiatus.

In terms of 2015-16, I’m not entirely convinced that last season actually happened. Yep it didn’t, I checked, so we can move on.

This season he has been outstanding once more and has scored 11 goals and made four assists so far. I expect him to top his previous 14 league goals best this season and he’s being touted as winning the PFA award once again.
