Chelsea FC: 5 reasons Blues will beat Manchester City
3. Bad defence
Let’s face it City have a bad defence. While John Stones has taken the brunt of the criticism, I think it’s fair to say that Otamendi and co are just as bad.
Pep Guardiola can’t seem to decide on who his best personnel are in defence. He’s tried several different combinations including: Stones/ Otamendi, Otamendi/ Kolarov, Stones/Kolarov and he can’t decide on a back four or a back 3.
His wing-backs are consistently different with Kolarov, Sagna, Clichy and Zabaleta all interchanging and coming in and out of the team.

Consistency in tea selection is a key component of winning matches and unfortunately for City fans Pep seems to not have any idea of what his best team is.
This has affected their defence as they struggle to keep clean sheets. Additionally, Pep’s game plan is all about attacking and possession in the final third meaning his wing-backs tuck into the midfield at times creating an overload of midfielders. While this works when they’re in possession, they are very vulnerable to counter attacks.
Chelsea FC are very good and quick at counter attacking football.
City’s defence will struggle to keep the likes of Eden Hazard and Costa from scoring and I believe Costa will bully John Stones and physically dominate him.
Two seasons ago, Chelsea beat City 3-0 and Mourinho’s team played defensively and counter attacked. Eden Hazard destroyed City on the counter attack and I expect this to happen again now that he’s in form.
City have conceded 32 goals this season while Chelsea FC have only let in 23.
